The Chairperson of the African Union Commission appointed on November 1st, 2018, Ms Aya Chebbi as the first Special Envoy on Youth, with a mandate to serve as a representative of and advocate for the voices and interests of African youth to the relevant AU decision-making bodies.

The Office of the Youth Envoy has become a Pan-African collaborative movement with youth networks and Youth Advisory Council supporting the office’s mandate and mobilizing regional engagement. During these two years tenure, the Youth Envoy has brought African youth together to mobilize around positive social change, intergenerational co-leadership and concrete actions that anchor the role of youth in the much-anticipated development of the African continent.
